I received my Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Denver and my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clinical populations in many different settings. I have worked with all ages and have worked in outpatient, inpatient, and school settings. This has awarded me the opportunity to become familiar and become exposed to many different clinical needs. I feel competent in working with both serious and non-serious illnesses and symptoms. I have been in private practice for 9 years and have experience working with a wide variety of people in need.
I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults and enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families. I feel that emotional pain has no age limit and that everyone can benefit from therapy. I also feel that many times people are hurting because of the relationships they have in their lives. When I see that is the case, I often prefer to work with all people involved. Although I like to tailor my approach to the client's needs, I work within an analytic and systemic style. I see symptoms as serving a purpose and, most often, they are connected to some other larger issues in a person's life. I like to examine the current issues, but also assess for patterns in a person's life that are similar to what is happening. I utilize a wide variety of techniques in my therapy, but place a lot of emphasis on the building of a relationship with my clients. I believe that without a strong relationship, long-lasting change is difficult. I care a great deal about people and feel that this is an asset in helping people feel comfortable with being vulnerable. I like to create a safe environment where my clients can open up and examine their issues.
I have also had the opportunity to wear other hats as a psychologist. I have consulted with schools and programs, taught at the graduate school level, have given presentations in the community, and have supervised students at various stages of their clinical training. I value these roles as much as I do my clinical work.
